Right for speedy Trial
The Speedy Trial Clause of the Sixth Amendment to the United States Consitution provides that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy trial. The Clause protects the defendant from delay between the presentation of the indictment or similar charging instrument and the beginning of trial.
Right to Vote
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. When being denied your right to vote, call California's State Voter Number:(800) 345-VOTE and explain the situation.
Citizenship
Citizenship is the status of being a citizen. If you have citizenship in a country, you have the right to live there, work, vote, and pay taxes. A person may have multiple citizenships.
Immigrants' Rights
he right to remain silent:you have the right to not say discuss your citizenship with immigration agents, police, or any other officials. What you discuss with these agents can be used against you.
If you’re an immigrant and immigration agent asks to search you, you have the right to say no. The immigration agents cannot search you without your consent.
If you’re an immigrant that is 18 years old or older you must carry papers with you at all times. If you do not have your papers with you, you have the right to remain silent or consult a lawyer.
If you’re an undocumented immigrant and a immigration agent asks you for papers, you must show them papers if asked.
What to do if stopped by ICE or police
Do not resist orders and stay calm
Do not give false information (lie or false documents)
Memorize the phone numbers of family members and lawyer in case of an arrest; prepare for these situations in case of an emergency.
